Recording security
At Improval, we take the security and privacy of all data extremely seriously.
This page details the security around the video recording app and platform. These are designed to meet NHS and UK GDPR standards, with the main aim of keeping patient data safe at every stage.
Secure Video Handling
- Videos are stored only briefly on your device and not backed up to iCloud or visible in Photos.
- After recording, the video is uploaded securely and then deleted from your phone.
- Please secure your phone with a passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID.
Encrypted Cloud Storage
- Uploaded videos are stored in the UK and encrypted.
- All data transfers use TLS encryption.
Controlled Access
- Only you and others that you invite to have access, for example your educational supervisor, can access the recordings.
- Sharing is by email invitation and all users must register to access.
- You’ll receive an email confirmation when access is granted.
Secure Web Portal
- 2-factor authentication protects your account.
- All recording access is logged and auditable.
Consent & Retention
- Patients must give informed consent before recording.
- Videos should be kept only as long as educationally useful.
- Recordings are scheduled for deletion automatically after 3 months by default (this can be extended if required).
- Patients may withdraw consent any time.
AI-assisted feedback
- Optional AI feedback is available to help improve consultation skills.
- Processed using AI within the UK.
- Data is not used to train the model.
